Saul Niguez: Chelsea agree loan deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder ahead of transfer deadline

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have agreed a deadline for Saul Niges to join the European champions in an initial loan deal with an option to buy, Spanish sources told Sky Sports News; The Spaniard wants to move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niges on loan on the first match day with an option to buy.

Sources from Spain told Sky Sports News that Chelsea, Atletico and the player fully agreed on the transfer on Tuesday night and are working hard to ensure the deal closes by the 11:00pm deadline.

Chelsea paid a £3.4m loan fee and will have the option to buy the Spanish national team for £30m (€35m) next summer.
Sol, who is looking to move to the Premier League, will not fly to London on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old, who was part of Diego Simeone’s title win last season, has played more than 300 games for Atletico since training for the first team as a 17-year-old in 2012.

He had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, with rumors rising over the summer that Manchester United would face Chelsea for his signing.

Earlier this summer, Sky Sports News reported that Saul was also involved in talks about a possible swap deal with Barcelona that would see Antoine Griezmann join his former club.

However, it appears Chelsea have a clear move with the midfielder on the final day of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Ethan Ampadou extended his contract with Chelsea until 2024 and sealed a seasonal loan to Serie A newcomers Venice.

It is the third loan for the 20-year-old Wales international, who has played for Sheffield United and RB Leipzig in the top flight of England and Germany.
