A draw indicates that finishing second in the group stage has serious consequences as you are immediately open to elite competition.

Liverpool finished second in Group A behind Napoli and faced defending champions Real Madrid who have become famous opponents:
Real Madrid won 1-0 in last season’s final through a goal from Vinicius Junior while Karim Benzema remains one of the most prolific strikers in the world. Liverpool still have a full squad led by Mohamed Salah but the club’s inconsistency in 2022-23 could be a problem against tough opponents.

Paris Saint-Germain will also face Bayern Munich in the next round, the only club to have won all six matches in their group stage.

PSG remain title contenders with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar but they were hampered by a tough draw.
The French giants beat Barcelona and Bayern Munich in 2021 before losing to Manchester City in the semifinals. Last year the team lost to eventual winners Real Madrid.

If the team progresses this season, there will be no room for error.

Chelsea meet Borussia Dortmund in a match that will be of interest to American fans. Not only can Christian Pulisic play against his former club, he can also play against US men’s national team star Gio Reyna.
Manchester City remain one of the title favorites and will be looking to extend the draw against RB Leipzig. Erling Haaland, who knows German club Dortmund, will be looking to take his team to the top after failing in previous years.

Many fans will also witness the high-end duel between Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan, complemented by plenty of star power from both sides.

The next round starts on February 14th.
